Shortening a steel watch strap
- Work on a soft surface to avoid damaging the watch.
- First, unfasten the clasp.
- Take a small awl, the end of a paperclip or something similar, and place it on the small pin on the side of the clasp.
- Then press the pin in. Please note: it will pop out. The clasp is now loose.
- On the inside of the watch strap, locate the links marked with arrows. The links open in the direction of the arrow.
- Insert the awl or flat-head screwdriver into the hole (under the small ball) and push the connecting piece outwards.
- Remove the connector; the link is now loose. Repeat this until you reach the desired length.
- Secure the links with a connector by placing the sections of steel band against each other and carefully pushing the connector into place.
- Then press the connector all the way into the steel band using, for example, the flat side of the flat-head screwdriver.
- Secure the clasp.
- Press the clasp together and use a flat-head screwdriver or something similar to push the pin back into place.
